USANA Success Story: Businessman goes from full-time job to full-time father

“Rebecca and I are home full time with the kids now and it’s been great. Rather than working for a boss and having a vacation policy, if we want to go someplace, it’s solely up to us.”

In 1998, Dan and Rebecca Brink both had full-time jobs, and finding extra time to spend with their three small children was proving difficult. Dan was usually on the road five days a week with his telecommunications company, which was in the process of downsizing its workforce. With the threat of losing his job and the limited time he had with his wife and children, Dan realized some changes needed to be made.

Dan was introduced to USANA a short time later, and he knew it was an opportunity he couldn’t pass up. “What really helped my decision in joining the company was the fact that my wife worked 20 miles away, and with me being out of state working as well, our children were growing up without us.” His decision made, Dan went to work building his new business from home. “I am so grateful that I can now spend that precious time with my children each day,” he says.

Since joining the company, Dan and Rebecca have added three more children to their family and have plenty of time to spend with each of them. Dan explains, “I can now be more of a support to my family—I am more available to them. We can basically do what we want, when we want.”

In 2002, having outgrown their small house south of the Salt Lake Valley, the Brinks were able to begin construction on their dream home. Dan says of their new home, “It’s a bit different than our 1,400-square-foot place that had three bedrooms and an oversized one-car garage.” Now they have two oversized two-car garages, eight bedrooms, six bathrooms, and an extra full kitchen in the basement for entertaining.

Dan and Rebecca still work hard, but with one major difference—they are in control of their lives. “Rebecca and I are home full time with the kids now and it’s been great,” Dan says. “Rather than working for a boss and having a vacation policy, if we want to go someplace, it’s solely up to us.”

And the Brinks have taken full advantage of that freedom in order to see the world together. Since joining USANA, they have been on a cruise every year and taken many memorable vacations. In June of 2005, Dan and Rebecca spent one-on-one time together, touring Europe. Then in November, the couple took another relaxing trip to Mexico.

Dan and Rebecca especially enjoy traveling with their children. A few years ago, Dan took his eldest son to Europe on a clipper ship. The entire family has also traveled together on several trips across the United States, and they are all looking forward to an Alaskan cruise in 2006. Dan concludes, “Whether it is something as simple as a lunch date, eating ice cream, or a trip around the world, we just have a really good time together as a family.”
